By Sam Coles:
It's been a while since the last Homefront game and it was due to the
unfortunate closing down of THQ, but this IP was a really interesting one
although be it completely outrageous with the premise of North Korea
invading the US.
Besides that it was an ok game, the campaign was average there wasn’t
anything compelling considering they hired the writer of Red Dawn and Apocalypse
Now to do the story; it was your standard modern military shooter story. What
really shined was the 32 player multiplayer on consoles, which was unheard of on
that generation of consoles and it was done right.
The new Homefront is being developed by Crytek the developers of the Crysis series
or the more recent Xbox One exclusive Ryse Son of Rome. Not much is shown in
the trailer just a resistance member approaching a checkpoint and then an all-out
battle breaking out. It looks though that the resistance is slowly winning and
starting to kick back with a new protagonist giving out propaganda saying “Wake
Up America” it looks to be more engaging than the first.
More will be revealed at E3 I expect and then we can get a better scope. The
game will be released on Xbox One, PS4 and PC in the foreseeable future.
